{"id":11543,"date":"2022-03-09T06:10:55","date_gmt":"2022-03-09T14:10:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/?p=11543"},"modified":"2022-03-09T06:10:55","modified_gmt":"2022-03-09T14:10:55","slug":"favorite-baja-stops-the-rosarito-beach-hotel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/index.php\/2022\/03\/09\/favorite-baja-stops-the-rosarito-beach-hotel\/","title":{"rendered":"Favorite Baja Stops:  The Rosarito Beach Hotel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the exception of our blogs on Tecate, most of what we write about Baja is well into the peninsula&#8217;s interior, far away from the touristy stuff clustered around Tijuana.\u00a0 Today&#8217;s blog on the Rosarito Beach Hotel is an exception.\u00a0 I love this place, and the beauty of it is that it&#8217;s only about 20 miles south of the border.\u00a0 It will take you longer to get through Mexican Customs in TJ than it will to drive to the Rosarito Beach Hotel.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16322\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16322\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-16322 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Map-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"568\" srcset=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Map-2.jpg 600w, https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Map-2-300x284.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-16322\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">You can actually see the Rosarito Beach Hotel from the toll road. It&#8217;s a short drive from the US border.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>To get there from So Cal, just take I-5 south until you run out of road.\u00a0 Before you cross the border, though, make sure your car or motorcycle has Mexican insurance (we always use <a href=\"http:\/\/www.Bajabound.com\">BajaBound<\/a>).\u00a0 After you&#8217;ve crossed the border you&#8217;ll need to stop at the Mexican Customs office (it&#8217;s huge and you can&#8217;t miss it), get your paperwork squared away, and continue south.\u00a0 Watch the signs for the toll road to Ensenada; that&#8217;s the road you want.\u00a0 Driving through TJ isn&#8217;t too bad; once you&#8217;re on the toll road it&#8217;s a pleasant drive along the Pacific Coast and you&#8217;ll soon see signs for Rosarito Beach.\u00a0 Watch for the Rosarito Beach Hotel sign, head east, and after a couple of blocks you will be at the hotel entrance.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16299\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16299\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-16299\" src=\"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/DSC00940.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/DSC00940.jpg 1280w, https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/DSC00940-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/DSC00940-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/DSC00940-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/DSC00940-1200x900.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-16299\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Rosarito Beach Hotel. Susie and I used to ride in the 50-mile fun run bicycle ride from Rosarito Beach to Ensenada when it ran that route. Those were grand times.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Rosarito Beach Hotel goes back to the 1920s when people like Clark Gable stayed there.\u00a0 The bar is great, the restaurant is surprisingly good, their Sunday brunch is incredible (it&#8217;s worth the drive there just for that), and the first meal is on the house.\u00a0 The rooms are modern and they are immaculate.\u00a0 The grounds are beautiful and the hotel has secure parking.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16301\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16301\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-16301 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/DSC00939-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/DSC00939-1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/DSC00939-1-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-16301\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The landscaping and layout of the Rosarito Beach Hotel are well done. The Sunday morning brunch is exquisite.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Many times when we&#8217;re doing group rides, we&#8217;ll use the Rosarito Beach Hotel as a rally point after we&#8217;ve crossed the border.\u00a0 It&#8217;s hard to miss when you&#8217;re on the toll road to Ensenada, and if your group gets separated in the complexity that is the Tijuana border area, the Rosarito Beach Hotel is a good place to meet.<\/p>\n<p>As I mentioned above, the restaurant in the Rosarito Beach Hotel is good.\u00a0 If you enjoy world-class fine dining, Susanna&#8217;s may well be the best kept secret in Rosarito Beach.\u00a0 It&#8217;s just a bit north of the Rosarito Beach Hotel and within walking distance in the Pueblo Plaza <span class=\"LrzXr\">courtyard collection of shops at Benito Ju\u00e1rez 4356 (walk north a block or two and turn right).\u00a0 \u00a0I have at least one dinner there every time I am in Rosarito Beach and I&#8217;ve never been disappointed.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16304\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16304\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-16304 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/a_DSC1137-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"401\" srcset=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/a_DSC1137-1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/a_DSC1137-1-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-16304\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Susanna in her world-class restaurant.
