Urban Camo Process"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A couple of months ago I shared a photo of a very cool SIG 239 that good buddy TJ had finished in Urban Camo (it&#8217;s the one you see in the photo above).\u00a0 I was intrigued by the finish, and as TJ walked me through the steps, I started to get an appreciation for how much work is involved.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s the process as TJ explained it to me:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Step 1:<\/strong>\u00a0 Disassemble, clean and inspect the firearm.<br \/>\n<strong>Step 2:<\/strong>\u00a0 Sand blast or other surface preparation.<br \/>\n<strong>Step 3:<\/strong>\u00a0 Apply base coat (black Duracoat for the gun you see above).<br \/>\n<strong>Step 4:\u00a0<\/strong> Add camo stickers to create pattern.<br \/>\n<strong>Step 5:<\/strong>\u00a0 Spray light grey Duracoat.<br \/>\n<strong>Step 6:<\/strong>\u00a0 Add more camo stickers to create pattern.<br \/>\n<strong>Step 7:<\/strong>\u00a0 Spray dark grey Duracoat to create pattern.<br \/>\n<strong>Step 8:<\/strong>\u00a0 Add more camo stickers to create pattern.<br \/>\n<strong>Step 9:<\/strong>\u00a0 Spray base coat again (black Duracoat for the gun you see above).<br \/>\n<strong>Step 10:<\/strong>\u00a0 Remove all camouflage stickers and inspect gun.<br \/>\n<strong>Step 11:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0Overspray muting stripes (netted flat black).<br \/>\n<strong>Step 12:<\/strong>\u00a0 Spray clear coat.<br \/>\n<strong>Step 13:<\/strong>\u00a0 Clean excess Duracoat from holes, rails, etc.<br \/>\n<strong>Step 14:<\/strong>\u00a0 (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The above makes for a good-looking gun and a durable finish.\u00a0 After it&#8217;s fully cured, it&#8217;s relatively impervious to solvents or gun oils.<\/p>\n<p>TJ can do other finishes as well, including a soft camouflage done without the tape described above (freehand spots or stripes).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>TJ can also do speckling (like you see below), which is a good finish for hiding pitting and other surface imperfections.<\/p>\n<p><img
