{"id":14243,"date":"2021-08-20T06:32:44","date_gmt":"2021-08-20T13:32:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/?p=14243"},"modified":"2021-08-20T06:32:44","modified_gmt":"2021-08-20T13:32:44","slug":"good-morning-vietnam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/index.php\/2021\/08\/20\/good-morning-vietnam\/","title":{"rendered":"Good Morning, Vietnam!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was one of those crazy motorcycle adventure moments when a chance encounter leads to a lasting friendship.\u00a0 I was leading a group of maybe 10 guys on CSC RX3 motorcycles in Baja and we stopped to buy bottled gas from the capitalists along the Transpeninsular Highway in Catavi\u00f1a.\u00a0 It was a crowded scene with two or three <em>Bajaenos<\/em> pouring gas from plastic water jugs into our motorcycles with bikes and bodies tightly crowded around.\u00a0 That&#8217;s when I noticed a tailpack on one of the bikes that looked different from the rest of our RX3s, and suddenly the difference hit me: It was bigger than the others and it had jump wings on the back.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/180313_7698-650.jpg\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Jump wings?\u00a0 That&#8217;s odd, I thought.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t think any of the guys I was riding with was a fellow former paratrooper.\u00a0 That&#8217;s when I met Mike Huber.\u00a0 He hadn&#8217;t been riding with us; he just happened to get mixed into our group at the Catavina fuel stop.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Screenshot_20200620-142530_Gallery-600.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"789\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Mike is a cool guy with a cool lifestyle.\u00a0 Most recently, that included a moto trip across Vietnam with his girlfriend, Bobbie.\u00a0 Mike published a story in ADVMoto, a magazine that has previouly published work by yours truly and Joe Gresh.
