{"id":15279,"date":"2021-11-26T05:12:14","date_gmt":"2021-11-26T13:12:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/?p=15279"},"modified":"2023-02-16T13:28:57","modified_gmt":"2023-02-16T21:28:57","slug":"a-tale-of-two-22s","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/index.php\/2021\/11\/26\/a-tale-of-two-22s\/","title":{"rendered":"The Rimfire Series: A Tale of Two .22s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rimfire rifles are cool.\u00a0 \u00a0The ammo is inexpensive (when you can find it), there&#8217;s no recoil to speak of, they are accurate, and they usually cost less than centerfire rifles.\u00a0 Usually.\u00a0 Unless you go for fancy wood and high end rifles.\u00a0 Both the rimfires you see above fit that description.<\/p>\n<p>The one on the left is a CZ452 Varmint model and it is a stunning rifle.\u00a0 I bought it used and came to it in a unusual way.\u00a0 I&#8217;d never owned a CZ before I bought this one.\u00a0 \u00a0I heard they were accurate and I&#8217;m a sucker for a pretty piece of walnut.\u00a0 I saw this one on an Internet rimfire forum, and I knew the chances of finding one like it in a store were slim.\u00a0 So I wrote to the owner through the board&#8217;s messaging system and asked if he&#8217;d be interested in selling it.\u00a0 &#8220;No way,&#8221; came the quick response.\u00a0 I forgot about it and then one day about a year later came the email.\u00a0 The guy needed cash and I needed that rifle.\u00a0 It was a match made in heaven, and I bought it as you see it here, complete with the Mueller scope.\u00a0 It&#8217;s as accurate as I hoped it would be (it&#8217;s the most accurate .22 rifle I own).\u00a0 \u00a0Patience pays big sometimes.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Have you clicked on your popup ads today?<\/span><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The one on the right I came to own in a different manner.\u00a0 About 15 years ago Susie and I were in Rapid City, South Dakota.\u00a0 \u00a0Rapid City is a cool little town and it has a very cool gun store.\u00a0 First Stop Gun is a dream come true:\u00a0 A real gun shop, with an eye for high end guns, blue steel, and good wood. I didn&#8217;t buy anything on that visit, but having learned about the gun store I watched for their listings on Gunbroker.com.\u00a0 One day, they posted an ad for a Remington Custom Shop Model 504.<\/p>\n<p>I pounced on the 504 and I&#8217;m glad I did.
