<\/p>\nSleepless in Seattle?\u00a0 Nah.\u00a0 How about awake in Ankara?<\/p>\n
I’ve had a few secret missions to Turkey and I love the place.\u00a0 When I fly in to Ankara, I usually arrive at 2:30 a.m. over there.\u00a0 That would be 4:30 p.m. back in So Cal, so I\u2019m still usually wide awake after flying through the night (it’s 12 hours to Istanbul, and another hour to the capital).\u00a0 Hence the title of this blog.<\/p>\n
Maybe I was a Turk in a prior life.\u00a0 But then I’ve sort of always felt I was Mexican in a prior life, too.\u00a0 I love Mexico (especially Baja), but here’s something you probably didn’t know:\u00a0 I love Turkey, too.\u00a0 And it’s weird…as far as I know, there’s nobody in the Berk family tree from Turkey.\u00a0 But my last name, with it’s unusual spelling (B-E-R-K) is a common last name in Turkey.\u00a0 When I’m over there and I pay with a credit card, folks frequently ask if I’m a Turk.\u00a0 Berk the Turk.\u00a0 Go figure.<\/p>\n
Ankara is one of my favorite cities in Turkey, and like the rest of the country, it’s a photography Nirvana.\u00a0 I’ll share a few of my favorite Ankara spots in upcoming blogs, and I thought to get the ball rolling I’d share a few from the airport ride into downtown.<\/p>\n

I’ll have a few more in future blogs…the Ataturk Museum, Old Ankara, the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, and more.<\/p>\n
Turkey would be my dream ride.\u00a0 They sell Zongshens over there, and the 250cc RX3 would be perfect for a ride across Turkey, I think.\u00a0 Someday.<\/p>\n
