{"id":1539,"date":"2018-11-09T05:31:23","date_gmt":"2018-11-09T13:31:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/?p=1539"},"modified":"2022-09-09T12:10:45","modified_gmt":"2022-09-09T19:10:45","slug":"back-in-the-day-another-bell-helmet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/index.php\/2018\/11\/09\/back-in-the-day-another-bell-helmet\/","title":{"rendered":"Back in the Day:  Another Bell helmet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Like everyone else who read the &#8220;Back in the Day&#8221; Bell Star piece, I greatly enjoyed <a href=\"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/index.php\/2018\/11\/06\/back-in-the-day-the-bell-star-helmet\/\">Gresh&#8217;s blog<\/a>.\u00a0 I never owned a Star, but I bought one of the modern Bell helmets Joe referenced about 10 years ago from my good buddy Mike over at NoHo Scooters in Hollywood.\u00a0 It was a lightweight, inexpensive full-face deal with artwork that made it an instant &#8220;I want&#8221; item. \u00a0 The Boss was with me and she gave the nod, and Mike gave me a good price, so I bought it.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/californiascooterco.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/21AugBlog-3.jpg\" width=\"650\" height=\"530\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Not politically correct. But cool. I liked it. Bombs Away!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The helmet had a World War II aviation motif. It&#8217;s not politically correct, so if you&#8217;re going to get your shorts in a knot over the artwork, my advice is this:\u00a0 You&#8217;re young.\u00a0 Go to your safe space and take a nap.\u00a0 You&#8217;ll probably get over it.<\/p>\n<p>The military theme worked perfectly, I think, with a CSC motorcycle Steve Seidner (CSC&#8217;s CEO) built.\u00a0 He called it &#8220;The Sarge&#8221; and it was his personal bike.\u00a0 I liked both the motorcycle and the helmet so much that as soon as Steve&#8217;s bike came together (and he wasn&#8217;t around) I raced off to a spot I knew would make for a good photo&#8230;<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/californiascooterco.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/DSC8590650.jpg\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Sarge and my Bell helmet.\u00a0 The motif worked.\u00a0 For me, anyway.\u00a0 Cue in the music from &#8220;Off We Go, Into the Wild Blue Yonder&#8230;&#8221;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I wore that helmet all the way down to Cabo and back on the <a href=\"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/Baja.html\">CSC 150 Baja run<\/a>.\u00a0 It was a nice hat.\u00a0 I really liked it.\u00a0 It made me taller, thinner, and faster.\u00a0 Better looking, too, if I kept the visor down.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/californiascooterco.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/NoHoAug27Ride.jpg\" width=\"650\" height=\"435\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Bell on my CSC 150.
