{"id":15422,"date":"2021-12-06T06:28:52","date_gmt":"2021-12-06T14:28:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/?p=15422"},"modified":"2021-12-06T06:38:52","modified_gmt":"2021-12-06T14:38:52","slug":"ferrari-versus-jeep","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/index.php\/2021\/12\/06\/ferrari-versus-jeep\/","title":{"rendered":"Ferrari versus&#8230;Jeep?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You&#8217;ve probably seen the movie <em>Ferrari versus Ford<\/em> a few years ago about Enzo Ferrari, Henry Ford II, Carrol Shelby, and the 24 hours of Le Mans.\u00a0 As flicks go, it was decent show.\u00a0 \u00a0Ford GTs are cool and so are Ferraris, made even more so by their stint in the police show a few years ago where a Ferrari Testarossa shared top billing with the two actors who played the good guys.\u00a0 That show had one of the greatest intro scenes ever:<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dEjXPY9jOx8\" width=\"642\" height=\"361\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I didn&#8217;t know why that show and the <em>Miami Vice<\/em> sound track was playing in my mind repeatedly for the last day or so, and then it hit me:\u00a0 Joe Gresh posted an old passport photo on Facebook.\u00a0 Take a look and tell me what you think:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15424\" src=\"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/JGDJ.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"414\" srcset=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/JGDJ.jpg 600w, https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/JGDJ-300x207.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Gresh is a Jeep man, though, through and through.\u00a0 Like me, I think he&#8217;d have a hard time even getting into a Ferrari.\u00a0 Hence the title of this blog.<\/p>\n<p>A bit about the Ferraris on <em>Miami Vice<\/em>.\u00a0 It&#8217;s shades of <em>Long Way Around<\/em> all over again, you know, when those two dilettantes who call themselves adventure riders wanted to borrow a couple of KTMs and do a show about going around the world on motorcycles.\u00a0 KTM wouldn&#8217;t cough up the bikes, so BMW stepped in with their GS ADV bikes, and Starbuck&#8217;s parking lots haven&#8217;t been the same since.<\/p>\n<p>Something similar happened on <em>Miami Vice<\/em>.\u00a0 Its producer asked Ferrari to give them two Testarossas and the answer was no.\u00a0 So they had two kit cars made up using Corvettes as the base car and Enzo went nuts.\u00a0 He sued the kit car company, but in the end,\u00a0 he coughed up the two real Ferraris so Don Johnson could be authentic.\u00a0 Not as authentic as Joe Gresh in a Jeep, but more than he would have been otherwise.<\/p>\n<p>One more thing about Miami Vice:\u00a0 A lot of big name actors got their start on that show.\u00a0 \u00a0Take a look:<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/P00RAWfFvF0\" width=\"642\" height=\"361\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Never miss an ExNotes story&#8230;we&#8217;ve got a zillion of them!<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You&#8217;ve probably seen the movie Ferrari versus Ford a few years ago about Enzo Ferrari, Henry Ford II, Carrol Shelby, and the 24 hours of Le Mans.\u00a0 As flicks go, it was decent show.\u00a0 \u00a0Ford GTs are cool and so are Ferraris, made even more so by their stint in the police show a few &hellip;
