{"id":16738,"date":"2022-04-10T07:23:54","date_gmt":"2022-04-10T14:23:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/?p=16738"},"modified":"2022-04-10T07:27:14","modified_gmt":"2022-04-10T14:27:14","slug":"10-reasons-i-quit-facebook","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/index.php\/2022\/04\/10\/10-reasons-i-quit-facebook\/","title":{"rendered":"10 Reasons I quit Facebook"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I deleted my Facebook account this morning.\u00a0 It feels good.\u00a0 These are the reasons why:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol>\n<li>Facebook told me one my recent posts about a handgun violated their community standards (it&#8217;s the blog immediately below this one).\u00a0 What a patronizing, insulting, idiotic thing to do.\u00a0 Folks, &#8220;Facebook community standards&#8221; is an oxymoronic expression.<\/li>\n<li>I didn\u2019t like the constant stream of moronic comments and arguments.<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019d post a link to one of our blog articles and I\u2019d get questions on Facebook that were answered in the blog.\u00a0 Facebook members were too lazy or too stupid to realize the link would provide the information.<\/li>\n<li>Too many people add comments to Facebook that are just plain wrong.<\/li>\n<li>There are persistent Facebook comments that are racist.\u00a0 I realize there are a lot of racists out there.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t need to see it.<\/li>\n<li>Facebook\u2019s so-called \u201cfact checkers\u201d routinely post \u201cThis statement is partially false\u201d when it wasn\u2019t.\u00a0 In fact, that ridiculous comment essentially agreed that it was true.\u00a0 Who are these \u201cfact checkers,\u201d anyway?\u00a0 My inference is that they are 22-year-old Bernie-Sanders-supporting Silicon-Valley software types making $200K\/year who routinely confuse their income with their intelligence.<\/li>\n<li>I grew tired of the anti-gun crowd on Facebook.\u00a0 If you don\u2019t like guns, don\u2019t own one.\u00a0 Do you really think your views are going to alter mine?\u00a0 Do you really think your insipid comments on Facebook are going to change my views?<\/li>\n<li>What is Facebook, really?\u00a0 It\u2019s not a product.\u00a0 It adds nothing of value to the human experience.\u00a0 It\u2019s nothing, really.<\/li>\n<li>I don\u2019t like Mark Zuckerberg.\u00a0 I know someone who knows him, and the feedback isn\u2019t good.<\/li>\n<li>I was spending too much time on Facebook.\u00a0 Life is short.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not wasting another second of it glued to my laptop or my cell phone reading stupid stuff on Facebook.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Old Zuckerhead doesn\u2019t make quitting Facebook easy.\u00a0 It took me about half an hour to finally find a way to do it.\u00a0\u00a0 I\u2019m pretty sure that\u2019s not accidental.\u00a0 If it was such a good thing, you\u2019d think they\u2019d make it difficult to join, not difficult to quit.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s Sunday.\u00a0 I think I\u2019m either going to the gym, or a motorcycle ride, or the range.\u00a0 Maybe I\u2019ll do all three.\u00a0 I feel good.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I deleted my Facebook account this morning.\u00a0 It feels good.\u00a0 These are the reasons why: Facebook told me one my recent posts about a handgun violated their community standards (it&#8217;s the blog immediately below this one).\u00a0 What a patronizing, insulting, idiotic thing to do.\u00a0 Folks, &#8220;Facebook community standards&#8221; is an oxymoronic expression.
