The fun factor was off the charts in this car.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Susie and I bought a new WRX in 2006 and it was one of the best and most fun cars we ever owned.\u00a0 We did a lot of great trips in that car.\u00a0 It had an automatic transmission (unusual for the WRX) and it was just a hoot to drive.\u00a0 It felt like a supercharged go kart, which in a way it sort of was.\u00a0 Turbocharged, anyway.\u00a0 It would go like a bat out of hell and one time when passing a long string of cars heading north on the 395, I looked down and saw I was doing a cool 140 mph.\u00a0 It was effortless. Nice.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I like the orange color.\u00a0 I had an orange Subie CrossTrek and my friends teased me about its bright orange paint.\u00a0 Laugh all you want.\u00a0 The CrossTrek was a good looking car and it was easy to find in a parking lot.<\/p>\n<p>I first drove a WRX when good buddy Tom tossed me the keys to his WRX when we were hanging around Bob Brown&#8217;s BMW dealership.\u00a0 Marty and I took it out for a spin, it was fast, and that ride was all it took.\u00a0 I bought the blue one you see above a short while later.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_21989\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-21989\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-21989 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/IMG_5177-600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/IMG_5177-600.jpg 600w, https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/IMG_5177-600-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-21989\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The WRX you see here has an automatic transmission. Slick. I want one.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Most WRX Subies have manual transmissions.\u00a0 \u00a0Those are okay, but I&#8217;m a bit more mature now and I prefer an automatic.\u00a0 Sit in California traffic a while and you will, too.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_21991\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-21991\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-21991 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/IMG_5180-600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/IMG_5180-600.jpg 600w, https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/IMG_5180-600-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-21991\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The WRX seats are hard but surprisingly comfortable.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I asked the sales guy at the Subie dealership what this one would go for and after the standard line of dealer crap (including the when are you going to buy, how much are you willing to offer, etc&#8230;.I do love dealers and their sales people), he finally showed me their invoice.\u00a0 The bottom line is that this Subie would go for something slightly north of $32,000, not counting taxes and other fees.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_21990\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-21990\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-21990 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/IMG_5179-600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"553\" srcset=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/IMG_5179-600.jpg 600w, https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/IMG_5179-600-300x277.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-21990\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">I love that scoop.
