With this being the case packing had to be tight, yet diverse enough for every possible type of weather that I may encounter.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-22702\" src=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/20230524_142943-600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"442\" srcset=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/20230524_142943-600.jpg 600w, https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/20230524_142943-600-300x221.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>My philosophy has always been less is better. This holds even more true when you have such minimal storage space on a motorcycle.\u00a0 There is no need to have every centimeter packed to the gills.\u00a0 Having a bit of remaining space allocated is important in the event you need to add gear or choose to pack sloppily after camping in the rain.\u00a0 That buffer space should be held sacred. So, here is everything I am bringing along this journey.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Kelty 1-person Tent<\/li>\n<li>Enu 2-person hammock (I like a larger hammock so I can wrap up if it\u2019s cold)<\/li>\n<li>Big Agnes sleeping bag (15 degree rated)<\/li>\n<li>Laptop bag with chargers and backup portable battery<\/li>\n<li>Luci Llight<\/li>\n<li>Hiking boots<\/li>\n<li>Stool<\/li>\n<li>Cooking pot, cup, utensil, propane<\/li>\n<li>Towel<\/li>\n<li>Portable grill (for throwing a steak or freshly caught fish on top of some coals)<\/li>\n<li>25ft of paracord (usually for additional hammock straps as needed)<\/li>\n<li>Day pack for hiking<\/li>\n<li>Tire repair kit<\/li>\n<li>Compressor<\/li>\n<li>Fishing gear<\/li>\n<li>Jumpmaster knife<\/li>\n<li>Hatchet<\/li>\n<li>Air mattress<\/li>\n<li>Air pillow<\/li>\n<li>Raingear (top and bottom)<\/li>\n<li>Leatherman<\/li>\n<li>SpotGen3 GPS (My Mom likes to know I made it to camp alive)<\/li>\n<li>Headlamp<\/li>\n<li>3-liter expandable water blivit<\/li>\n<li>Swimsuit<\/li>\n<li>2 pairs of pants<\/li>\n<li>3 pairs of socks<\/li>\n<li>3 pairs of underwear<\/li>\n<li>3 t-shirts<\/li>\n<li>1 pair of shorts<\/li>\n<li>Duct tape<\/li>\n<li>Electrical tape<\/li>\n<li>Sweatshirt<\/li>\n<li>Baseball hat<\/li>\n<li>Riding jacket<\/li>\n<li>Lambykins<\/li>\n<li>Military side pack (for all fishing gear)<\/li>\n<li>Winter hat (my Mom knitted)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-22703\" src=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/20230530_122824-600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"440\" srcset=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/20230530_122824-600.jpg 600w, https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/20230530_122824-600-300x220.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Currently 10 days into this trip with 8 nights of camping in numerous weather conditions and I have remained quite comfortable.\u00a0 Another barometer of success is when someone walks by my campsite as I am laying in my hammock reading a book and they comment \u201cWOW, you fit ALL that on your motorcycle?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I just smile and reply with a \u201cyup.\u201d I am now in northern California and will start hitting possibly more wet and cold weather so I will see how my gear continues to stack up against the elements as I travel further north with no real itinerary.\u00a0 The main objective of this trip is to slow down, enjoy the moment, be present, and meet up with old and new friends along the ride.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-22704\" src=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/20230607_075857-600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"755\" srcset=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/20230607_075857-600.jpg 600w, https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/20230607_075857-600-238x300.jpg 238w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Let me know if there is a piece of gear you feel I am missing or that you hold close during your long-distance motorcycle trips.
