{"id":26906,"date":"2024-08-14T00:01:23","date_gmt":"2024-08-14T07:01:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/?p=26906"},"modified":"2024-08-12T07:17:39","modified_gmt":"2024-08-12T14:17:39","slug":"shoshone-falls-idaho","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/index.php\/2024\/08\/14\/shoshone-falls-idaho\/","title":{"rendered":"Shoshone Falls, Idaho"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6>By Joe Berk<\/h6>\n<p>The question I found confusing when navigating my way to Twin Falls, Idaho, was this:\u00a0 Is Shoshone Falls the &#8220;twin falls&#8221; referred to in Twin Falls, or is there another set of falls somewhere along the Snake River?\u00a0 I never really had a satisfactory, definitive answer to that question (and I asked several people in Twin Falls).\u00a0 It&#8217;s further complicated by the fact that upstream of Shoshone Falls (at the eastern edge of the town of Twin Falls), there&#8217;s another park called Twin Falls Park.\u00a0 I think the answer is this:\u00a0 There are other falls along the Snake River in the area of Twin Falls, but the Shoshone Falls are the two falls that give the city its name.\u00a0 If you know different, please let me know.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_27190\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-27190\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-27190 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/TFMap600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/TFMap600.jpg 600w, https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/TFMap600-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-27190\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The arrow on the left points to Shoshone Falls. The arrow on the right points to Twin Falls Park, which is also on the Snake River.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I plugged Shoshone Falls into Waze, and the nav program took us east out of town through a bit of farm country and past a few housing developments.\u00a0 The ride down to Shoshone Falls Park was an interesting one.\u00a0 When we approached the entrance where you pay $5 to enter the park and I asked about handicapped parking (I had a bad motorcycle accident 15 years ago and my handicapped parking tag was that cloud&#8217;s silver lining).\u00a0 \u00a0The nice lady in the ticket booth told me my handicapped parking tag meant free admission.\u00a0 The month I spent in the hospital had a return on investment.<\/p>\n<p>The ride down to Shoshone Falls from the entrance demands attention.\u00a0 It winds down a narrow lane alongside the mountain with a steep dropoff on one side (and there was no guardrail).\u00a0 I realized it would be best to save the sightseeing until I got down there.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_27185\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-27185\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-27185 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/20240623_5015-600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/20240623_5015-600.jpg 600w, https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/20240623_5015-600-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-27185\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The sign upon entering the parking area.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Once we arrived at the Shoshone Falls viewing area, we could see there are indeed two separate falls.\u00a0 It&#8217;s very scenic.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_27187\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-27187\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-27187 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/20240623_5028-600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/20240623_5028-600.jpg 600w, https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/20240623_5028-600-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-27187\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">I stopped on the stairs leading to the viewing area. Just around the bend in the river is where Evel Knievel attempted to jump the Snake River Canyon.
