What&#8217;s that white stuff?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Imagine you&#8217;re an old fart like Gresh and suddenly you could be again 18 years old again.\u00a0 That&#8217;s kind of what happened to me just a short while ago.\u00a0 Now, old Joe Gresh, he&#8217;s inbound from the Sacramento Mountains (don&#8217;t let the name fool you) in New Mexico, the Tinfiny Ranch, headed here. \u00a0 The guy wanted to make the drive in one day in order to be staged for our run into Baja tomorrow.\u00a0 Hey, that&#8217;s okay.\u00a0 It&#8217;s going to be warmer where we&#8217;re going.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, back to that 18-years-old-thing again. \u00a0 That&#8217;s what I want to be.\u00a0 18 years old.\u00a0 And while I&#8217;m dreaming, throw in a new 1966 650cc, made-in-England, Triumph Bonneville, but let&#8217;s add electric start, six speeds, disc brakes, and a flawless finish.\u00a0 That&#8217;s my dream.<\/p>\n<p>Only it&#8217;s not a dream. That&#8217;s where I am right now.<\/p>\n<p>The bike is a new Royal Enfield Interceptor.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a 650.\u00a0 The styling is perfect, right down to the big tach and speedo that almost say &#8220;Smiths&#8221; (if I have to explain that, you wouldn&#8217;t understand).\u00a0 It&#8217;s made in India instead of England (hey, the current Triumph Bonnevilles are made in Thailand). \u00a0 My take?\u00a0 This new motorcycle has out-Triumphed Triumph in being more faithful to the original layout, displacement, and feel of the &#8217;66 Bonneville I&#8217;ve lusted after for years. \u00a0 But with lots more refinement.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3292\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3292\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3292\" src=\"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20190313_9745-600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20190313_9745-600.jpg 600w, https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20190313_9745-600-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3292\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A brand new Royal Enfield 650 Interceptor in my driveway.
