There were 12 other divers on the boat, all of whom were divemasters and had years (decades) more experience than I did.

The diving did not disappoint. One of the huge items on my list was swimming with hammerhead sharks. This item on my list was checked off with authority as we were surrounded by schools of them on more than one dive. They would silently approach you like a battalion of Cylons and swim just a few meters above you as they effortlessly hunted the waters here. With a total of 19 dives over the 8 days, there was a constant kaleidoscope of new wildlife daily.

On some dives we saw iguanas feasting on algae; on other dives I would feel a concussion of water hit me as sea lions and seals propelled by at lightning speed.
