{"id":4033,"date":"2019-05-03T16:44:57","date_gmt":"2019-05-03T23:44:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/?p=4033"},"modified":"2019-05-03T16:53:23","modified_gmt":"2019-05-03T23:53:23","slug":"back-in-the-usa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/index.php\/2019\/05\/03\/back-in-the-usa\/","title":{"rendered":"Back in the USA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another day, another 14-hour flight, and another week, another time zone reversal.\u00a0 I love traveling to Asia; I don&#8217;t relish the thought of taking a month to get back on US time. \u00a0 That&#8217;s what happens every time I travel to Asia.\u00a0 When I visit China, Singapore, Thailand, or any of the places I go to in Asia, I get adjusted to Asia time in one day.\u00a0 Then it takes a month when I get home to adjust to US time.\u00a0 It doesn&#8217;t matter if I&#8217;m in Asia for 2 days, 40 days, or 13 months (I&#8217;ve done all three); it always takes forever to get back on our time. \u00a0 I don&#8217;t think it has anything to do with direction; it has everything to do with what&#8217;s home.\u00a0 My Asian friends tell me they experience the same thing&#8230;when they come to America, they&#8217;re on our time in a day or two, and then it takes them weeks to get back on their home time once they&#8217;ve returned.<\/p>\n<p>This adventure was two weeks for Susie and me.\u00a0 It started with 4 days in Singapore, where I taught a class to folks working in the Singaporean defense industry.\u00a0 I get invited to Singapore to do that a couple of times a year; the topic this time was Failure Mode and Effects Analysis.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4034\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4034\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4034\" src=\"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/20190423_1059-900-600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" srcset=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/20190423_1059-900-600.jpg 600w, https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/20190423_1059-900-600-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4034\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Singapore defense industry engineers in an FMEA course. This modern Lambretta is manufactured in Taiwan.
