Those are hard-boiled quail eggs and they were good!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I&#8217;m back after a 3-day hop over to Singapore, and it&#8217;s good to be home.\u00a0 I thought I&#8217;d do sort of a catchall blog to mention a bunch of things.\u00a0 For starters, Singapore was fun (it always is), but that 15-hour time change is a bear.\u00a0 I was over there to teach a class, something I do two or three times a year.\u00a0 They treat me well in Singapore and I love traveling to Asia.\u00a0 I think I&#8217;m back on California time already, thanks to keeping an altered sleep schedule while I was in Asia and a good sleeping pill that let me sleep through the night last night.\u00a0 If you&#8217;ve never been to Singapore, you might want to add it to your bucket list.\u00a0 It&#8217;s one of the world&#8217;s great places.<\/p>\n<p>I kept up (as many of you did) with Joe Gresh&#8217;s Endurofest fun in Flagstaff, and it looks like the only downside to that adventure was his good buddy Hunter crashed and cracked a bunch of ribs.\u00a0 Hunter, we&#8217;re thinking of you.\u00a0 Get well soon.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6167\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6167\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6167 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/1-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"491\" srcset=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/1-4.jpg 600w, https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/1-4-300x246.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6167\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">At the spot where Joe&#8217;s buddy Hunter crashed. He got through it with six broken ribs. Ouch!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>And speaking of cracking things, you&#8217;ll remember the story on my .257 Weatherby Ruger No. 1 cracking its Circassian walnut stock and me shipping it back to the factory.\u00a0 I called Ruger, but I still don&#8217;t have an update on the fix.\u00a0 They were supposed to get back to me later today, but it&#8217;s already later today so I expect I won&#8217;t hear anything until tomorrow or Monday.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve got a bunch of .257 Weatherby brass polished and primed, and I&#8217;ve got the Barnes monolithic copper bullets my good buddy Mississippi Dave recommended.\u00a0 I&#8217;m eager to get that rifle back and continue the load development for it.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6192\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6192\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6192 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/20190923_4137-600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/20190923_4137-600.jpg 600w, https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/20190923_4137-600-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6192\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A 200th year Ruger 77 in 7&#215;57. You&#8217;d think with all those 7s I&#8217;d get lucky, but I haven&#8217;t found a way to get tight groups yet. I&#8217;m working the problem.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In the meantime, I&#8217;ve been playing with a beautiful 43-year-old Ruger Model 77.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a 200th year Ruger in a very classy chambering, the 7&#215;57, which is the old Spanish Mauser cartridge.\u00a0 I bought it used in 1977 and it is in pristine condition, and I think I know why the previous owner sold it. \u00a0 It doesn&#8217;t group worth a damn.\u00a0 But that makes it more fun (half the fun with these things is searching for a good load). \u00a0 Stay tuned, because if I ever find a decent load, you can be sure there will be a blog on this one.<\/p>\n<p>The carb on my TT250 is gummed up and it won&#8217;t idle.\u00a0 That&#8217;s not the bike&#8217;s fault.\u00a0 It&#8217;s mine.\u00a0 I sometimes go months between rides on that bike, and that&#8217;s what happened here.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll take the carb apart to clean out the passageways, and when I do, I&#8217;ll photodocument the approach so you can see how I go about it. \u00a0 I&#8217;ll have to re-read the tutorial I did for <a href=\"http:\/\/cscmotorcycles.com\">CSC Motorcycles<\/a> on the TT250 carb first.\u00a0 These bikes are super easy to maintain, and they have to be one of the best deals ever on a new motorcycle.<\/p>\n<p>Hey, another cool motorcycle deal&#8230;my good buddy Ben recently published a book titled <em>21 Tips For Your First Ride South Of The Border<\/em> (and it&#8217;s free).\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/gumroad.com\/l\/motomex-21tips?fbclid=IwAR39T9sEzHlqn9MSPCN2Vx1AOr8Ubya2mgaUsgtWTukF3UppkKDiFYeBx_Y\">You can download it here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6194\" src=\"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Ben-Ebook.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"429\" height=\"646\" srcset=\"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Ben-Ebook.jpg 429w, https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Ben-Ebook-199x300.jpg 199w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 429px) 85vw, 429px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s see&#8230;what else?\u00a0 Oh yeah, we have a bunch of stuff in the blog pipeline for you.\u00a0 There&#8217;s the Yoo-Hoo product review (we haven&#8217;t forgotten about that one). \u00a0 There&#8217;s a very cool watch company (<a href=\"https:\/\/geardhardware.com\/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI19me2OaS5QIVD9NkCh0E9AyTEAAYASAAEgL22_D_BwE\">Gear&#8217;d Hardware<\/a>) that follows the ExNotes blog, and they recently sent two watches to us for review.\u00a0 The review will appear here in the near future.\u00a0 That&#8217;s good;
