{"id":6313,"date":"2019-10-23T07:56:49","date_gmt":"2019-10-23T14:56:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/?p=6313"},"modified":"2019-10-23T08:18:41","modified_gmt":"2019-10-23T15:18:41","slug":"baja-bound","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/index.php\/2019\/10\/23\/baja-bound\/","title":{"rendered":"Baja Bound"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/170320_9919-650-600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tuan, on one of the CSC Motorcycles Baja runs.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Good buddy Tuan asked me for a suggested 4-day itinerary for Baja, and I referred him to our Baja page and its included suggested Baja rides.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s another 4-day ride that would make for a great 4-day Baja visit:\u00a0 Tecate, Ensenada, San Quintin, and home again.<\/p>\n<p>Tecate is one of the better best-kept secrets in Baja, and it&#8217;s one of my favorite towns.\u00a0 It&#8217;s about 150 miles south of the Los Angeles area and getting there is an easy ride.\u00a0 I like to stay at the El Dorado Hotel, have dinner at the Amores restaurant, and then breakfast at Malinalli&#8217;s, which is right next door to the El Dorado.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20190228_9469-600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jonathan and Pablo at Amores. It\u2019s world class dining in downtown Tecate, and it is amazing.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20190302_9506-600.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"694\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Maria, one of the friendly folks who took care of us in the Malinalli Sabores Aut\u00f3ctonos restaurant in Tecate.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After breakfast, it&#8217;s an easy run through Tecate to Ensenada along the Ruta Del Vino, maybe with a stop at El Naranjo&#8217;s for lunch.\u00a0 It&#8217;s about an 80-mile ride and it&#8217;s quite scenic.\u00a0 Ensenada is touristy, but I like the place.\u00a0 You can get fish tacos at any of several taco spots along the embarcadero and have breakfast at Velero&#8217;s (world-class dining; it&#8217;s where knowledgeable Ensenada business folks take their morning meal). \u00a0 I&#8217;d stay in the Best Western and have dinner at Birrieria La Guadalajara.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a family style place my good buddy Tim introduced me to, and it&#8217;s great.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/0-BajaMar1520140318_0038-600.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Breakfast at Velero&#8217;s. The place is amazing.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/7-180310_7376-600.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">A veritable feast at Birrieria La Guadalajara in Ensenada. Bring an appetite!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>From Ensenada, it&#8217;s another easy run through northern Baja&#8217;s wine country and the agricultural region down to San Quintin.\u00a0 There are two great hotels in San Quintin.\u00a0 One is the more modern Mision Santa Maria.\u00a0 The other is the Old Mill Hotel right on Bahia San Quintin, which is the one I prefer.\u00a0 The Old Mill has a new restaurant called Eucalypto&#8217;s, and it&#8217;s world class.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20190315_9854-600.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">The good folks at the Old Mill give you a beer when you check in. Here&#8217;s Uncle Joe, hard at work after a long day&#8217;s ride.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20190319_0660-600.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"546\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Watch for the sign pointing to the Old Mill Hotel in San Quintin. It&#8217;s a classic Baja stop.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/exhaustnotes.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20190315_9868-600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Seared Tuna at the Eucalypto.
