Headed south…

Bright and early Sunday morning (that’s tomorrow), we’re headed south on Janus motorcycles!   It’s cold here in the Southland and it promises to be a chilly ride tomorrow, but I’m going to be dressed for it and I’m ready.

The Janus Gryffin. That’s not me in the photo. My wheelie license expired.

I’ll be riding with Devin and Jordan from Janus, and I’ll be on a Gryffin.  It’s going to be a grand thousand-mile adventure ride, and you’ll be able to follow us each day right here on the ExNotes blog.  I’ll have my laptop and my Nikon with me, and I promise I’ll do my best to post lots of photos and descriptions of our ride.  Our bikes will be covered by BajaBound Insurance (the only insurance I ever use in Mexico).

Along the Malecon in San Felipe!

Mexico’s had a tough go of it lately, what with the caravan arrival in Tijuana and the storms along Highway 5 washing out portions of the road.  We won’t be near TJ, but we will be traveling on Highway 5 down to San Felipe.  Whatever.  It’s not an adventure ride until something goes wrong, because that’s when the adventure starts.  Like I said, we’ll keep you posted right here!

  1. I know you’ll have a great ride. I’m anxious to hear your feedback on the Janus motorcycles.

    1. I travel light, Fred, other than for photo and computer gear. Maybe they’ll have YooHoo in Baja, although I don’t recall ever seeing it there. I’ll do my best to get great photos and write interesting posts. Traveling in Baja on a motorcycle makes that easy.

  2. Good luck to the group. I’ve been on-and-off with those Janus bikes for a couple of years. Really like the look and made in USA factgor, but never close enough to pull the trigger.

Since they’ve got the same Zongshen motor, I’m interested in your opinion of their performance Joe as compared to the TT250.

    Cheers

    1. Thanks, Dan. Yep, you’ll get the unvarnished facts. I have a good feeling about these bikes. Just wrote the blog I’ll post tomorrow before we leave early in the morning. And I may post another one tomorrow night after I get a few photos on the road. Very excited. You know what’s uppermost on my mind? Getting some of those awesome Tecate street tacos across the street from the hotel tomorrow night. Woo hoo!

  3. Going to follow this one closely, Joe. Have fun, keep the rubber side down, and enjoy some great fish tacos while you’re there!

  4. This is what the CG motor was built for…Looking forward to reading about the trip and the bikes!

  5. Please be careful and try to behave and not get arrested. I am out of the country and can’t get you bail money.

    Be safe!! and have fun.
