I’ll tell ya, I’m a slave to emails advertising reloading component sales. Midsouth is advertising small pistol primers at $59.99/1000, and their ad says you can either waive shipping or the hazmat fees. They have a code for waiving the hazmat fees, and I almost ordered another 2000 primers from them, but the code doesn’t work (so I took a pass). Then there was an email ad from the Missouri Bullet Company advertising their cast bullet sales, and I got all pumped up over it until I remembered I don’t like their bullets anymore (the last few boxes I bought had casting defects on the bullet base). Then there was another email pushing a sale on Xtreme bullets, but I still have some of those for the .45 and I don’t particularly like them, either.
Bottom line: I didn’t order anything today. And that’s how I’m gonna keep it. Well, maybe.
There’s some good news on the Constitutional aspects of living in the People’s Republik of Kalifornia. I guess our law restricting gun sales to one every 30 days was overturned. But the legislators couldn’t leave it alone, so California now has a new rule that allows buying 3 guns in any 30-day window. I don’t get it. If first law was unconstitutional, how is the second one okay? What I really want to see here in the People’s Republik is for them to do away with the nonsensical 11% additional tax (on top of the regular sales tax) and the CA DOJ approved handgun roster. I can’t understand how these things still stand.
Shall not be infringed… It seems pretty clear to me.
While pondering the above, another Labor Day Sale email floated in, this one from Springfield Armory. What’s this? A full-auto BB gun with the Marine Corps coyote tan and G10 grip treatment? What do you think? Springfield Armory TRP 1911 Full-Auto CO2 BB Pistol. And before you answer, watch this:
The Marine Corps bought a bunch of 1911s in cerakoted desert tan 10 or 15 years ago. They really looked cool. Those Marine Corps guns come up on Gunbroker every once in a while and they are super expensive. This BB gun looks a lot like them. Did I mention that it can be fired full auto?
The Springfield Armory ad had my attention, and the video is cool. The online reviews are not all that favorable, but damn, this BB-spittin’ 1911 looks like a very cool toy. It’s on sale at $169. Full auto. Delivered to your door. No ATF or CA DOJ nonsense. I’ll probably take a pass on this one, too, but hey, the day ain’t over yet.
Looks good. Can it be fired in single shot mode ? I assume do .
My kid goes to college down the street from the Springfield armory . Are these made there or is it just a museum of sorts?
It can be fired in the semi-auto mode.
There’s Springfield Armory and there’s Springfield Arsenal. Springfield Armory is a commercial company. Most of their 1911s (the real ones) are made in the Philippines. I’m not sure where the one in this blog is manufactured, but I’m guessing it’s not made in the US.
Hack, I checked with Google’s Gemini program. The 1911 BB gun is manufactured in Taiwan.
The Philippines! Your kidding.
I mean of course you aren’t. I wonder if I can buy the real one there? Being an upstanding member of the Road Rats MC – Philippines! Even if I haven’t been there in years
I am pretty sure the sign says Historic Springfield Armory . Of course a huge portion of the factory has been repurposed . But supposedly the original buildings exist. local militias stored their stuff there and the Red Coats wanted in .
But I haven’t really checked any of this out. Perhaps I should. It looks from driving by to be a huge complex so I didn’t know if the guns were from Springfield Ma or Springfield Somewhere else. This will require further investigation.
Now you have me wondering about the two Springfields. Will advise shortly.
And happy Labor Day !
Thanks for commenting, BB!
